Started Professional Voice Training Today
First I feel I should point out that I don't actually write down every maintanence step I'm doing towards the feminization. Just things that kind of change the status que. I've written on all of my doctor appointments becaues in each one something new happened. Like going on anti-testostorone, then going on estrogen, then increasing estrogen. Speaking of which, going up to a possible max dosage of estrogen in my next appointment in two weeks! I say possible because there is a 50% change after two months of that, they'll increase it just one more time.
Anyways, as I was saying, I don't write every time I do something to maintain the status quo. For example, I don't write every time I take my new measurements, or go to the gym. Probably the best illustration is I don't write every time I go in for another laster hair removal treatment on my face. I've actually been doing that every two months for about 8-10 months now, which I had another one today for the record. So um, today I actually went to my first appointment with a voice feminization coach. I felt that I really had to start doing that around now incase my voice ends up being more difficult to feminize then I expected as that would give me enough time to meet my summer goals.
My voice is honestly not one of the things I worry about holding me back on my future passability. It has always been unisex and actually after todays appointment learned it was around the border betseen the masculine and andorgonous voice zones. In fact, it is not uncommon for drive through micophones or phone calls with people who don't know my name say say things like mam and such. I have been practicing it off and on as well, but I knew I reached a stage of diminished returns without live feedback from someone else who is knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. For example, understanding hte different between pitch and resonance have always been an area. And hearing my own judgement trhough recordings and stuff has almost been impossible for me to tell how passable it is.
I do work on using a femme voice when playing on video games to see how passable it is with strangers. Most of the tiem I don't get a commont. And a little half of the comments I get is people assuming I'm a gamer girl which is good.
So anyways, I did my first appointment on that. A little nerve racking lol, since most of my appointments so far has been being a little more passive then an active participiant. For example seeing a doctor is just hte doctor telling me what to do and what to expect. This time I'm actively talking and working on stuff at the same time. So to the actual appointment, the professional was very impressed at both my naturalness on it but how progressed I've become on my own. When I finally got a critique from her, she said it sounds like I can hit all of the hard targets for a passable voice and most of my work will be just making it more natural then forced. A little better understanding of resonance but I pretty much am almost there.
What I gathered from this is I just needt o get a little more natural, build more stamina on it, and a little more confident. Things like choosing the correct words, going a little more musical, and controlling the muscles in my mouth a little bit. For example, vowels seem to bring me out of the femme voice a little bit. We both agreed that it seems more like my problem is just knowing what I'm supposed to be doing rather then actually being able to do it. This makes me very happy since I'm now very confident that voice will be no road block to me for meeting my summer goals. I also don't feel like this appointment was a waste of money since I feel like I'm getting the information I need to finish perfecting my voice. For exampe, I now know that hitting the right pitch is not a problem, and I now know that my resonance is already almost there. I also seem to have a reasonably good range over the spectrum women talk in (women talk in a larger spectrum where men are more monotone). Before when I was going in and out of the correct herz for female voice, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be doing that and if I was was it happening correctly.
I'm going to look for better vboice monitoring software and what I've been using tell me what I do instantly. She had a much better one which showed it in a graph that also recorded. So I can see that my "average" was correct, the range of my voice is correct and it would tell me what sounds make me leave the correct zone. I think practice with that will help. Also becoming a little more musical and freely allowings my voice more range will help. Before now, I've been working on my resonance as kind of a vertical up and down meter, going from chest all the way up to my nose, now I understand that there is also a horizontal aspect of also going from throat to the front of the mouth, which is a small area of work with.
On other positive news, she said that my body posture, expressions and such was already naturally towards the feminine setting and would probably fall into place automatically once my voice is fully feminized.
I get the sense that I'm starting to repeat the same things too much. I guess the main point is that I got outside confirmation that I'm already almost there with a passable voice, I'm now confident that the areas I need to finish up on are attainable within my time frame goals and my only real barreirs to work through now are the physical ones, both on how quickly the hormones will effect my body and how quickly I can get to the best looking female body I can through diet and exercise.
Since I mentioned it a small update on that. So I've always been a fan of the quote "Aim for the moon, even if you fail, you'll land among the stars." Thats one of the reasons my goal is very much the "trophy wife" since that is a slightly unrealisitc goal but one that is great to work towards. The reason I brng it up is my goal is to be as healthily slender as I can by the beginning of summer. Right now all my measurements I take every week and bi-weekly is one track to be in healthy female body weight range by mid-late summer. I'm still doing things to quicken that up a little bit, but worst case scenerio if the trend continues is I'll have the most slender body I can while still being healthy/curve ready around September with passable weight/measurements by mid summer. Once I hit that, then my major exercise/diet goals with be fully focused on curves/butt/hips and such rather then curves/butt/hips and slimming down.
So all in all, good day for me when it comes to my progress. :) The next step is my estrogen amount increasing with my doctors appoinntment in two weeks. After that, pretty much in cruise control for two months with now bloggable updates. That said, chances are during that time frame and assuming my work on voice is going well, that I'll probably start working on actually mastering either make up skills or flexibility.
