Whats my name?
So I'm starting to get to the point where I need to start officially changing all my official documentation to reflect a new female name. I want this to be mostly in place around when I start going female 24/7 which I'm still shooting for summer on, though probably closer to late summer. Usually big decisions like this I let permeate in my subcontious till something triggers and answer. I'm almost there, but due to my timeline, I have to start thinking it more actively. Luckily, I'm down to a few names I like on the first name unless something completely unexpected come up that sounds great.
The last name, I'm not so lucky on. To be honest, I totally forgot about picking a new last name till only recently so I haven't really thought about it as much as I should of. I know some may way no reason not to keep my current last name, but I feel strongly that as part of a full restart, I really do need a new one. So that will probably take a little more thoughtful thinking.
One thing I've never been a huge fan on is names that are common. Kind of defeats the purpose of a name, you know? hehe. There supposed to pick you from a crowd, not be included in a reasonably size subgroup. That said, becoming a girl doesn't require me to be as unique as well, so I'm okay with a name being a little more common, perhaps uncommon is what I'm looking for. The other thing I'm big on is the name to be clearly feminine. I dont want there to be easy avenues to "retreat" into, even though that really hasn't been an issue so far. Maybe it hasn't been an issue because I've been careful to avoid "retreat" options, but probably not.
So anyways, there are the current first names I'm liking and considering along with short blurb of my thoughts.
Tiffani - I like how it is clearly feminine. Ending with an i indicates less seriousness. Can be shorted to Tif or Tifa. I dislike that those shortened versions are a "little" forced. Also my favorite last name so far is Lockhart, and that can't go with this because of clear copy of video games.
Kimberli - Clearly feminine. Ending with i indicates less eriousness. Shortens very easily to Kim which is also very feminine. Down side is it might be a little too common for what I want. Also takes away one of my leading contenders for last name "Hart" because obvious copy of fictional character though wasn't thought of on purpose. Found out later, lol.
Lexi - Clearly feminine. Ending with i indeicates less seriousness. Doesn't really need to be shorted, but does shorten to Lex which is more male then I prefer. Then again, may have advantages with the short transition period. I liked how it goes with Sexy as well.
Alexis - Feminine name. Shortens to Lexi which is a plus. But also shorterns to Alex even easier which I want to avoid.
Amy - Clearly feminine. Just didn't seem right to end it with an i, even though I probably could of. Doesn't need a shorter version since already short.
Amelia - Clearly feminine. Shortens to Amy with a little work. Also one of the more unique names that I've mentioned.
Renee - Clearly feminine. Also not very common. Though doesn't really need to ever be shorted, could be shortened to Rene which I don't like the sound of.
These are the last names I'm considering.
Lockhart - I've always liked this last name even though it is a very popular and well known last name from Final Fantasy. That said, I have ran into a few Lockhart's in my entire life (I think like twice), so a little believable. Because it is better known from FF then an actual last name, is why I'm hesitant on it.
Hart - This is probably the leading contender right now and is one I like. Kind of takes the Lockhart name without the down side. Also like the feminine implication with heart. That said, couldnt' use it with Kimberli for reasons I mentioned earlier.
Angeles - I like how it is almost like Angel which is the whole goody thing. I am a total good shoes, lol. Also Angeles is a little uncommon which is a plus. That said, nto sure I like the flow with the previous names.
Hope - I've seen this as a girl first name before. Could also be used as a last name.
North - I've played around with this name a long time ago. Though now sure how I feel compared to the others.
Knight - Not much to say, but does sound okay with some of the first names.
Star - So I kind of like space, the sky and stuff like that. And all of these names indicate somethig more positive/good.
As you can seem, my thought process on the last names is way more new. Anyways, I still have several months (probably less than 2) to start the paperwork. So I made a good survey for anyone who'd want to give their feedback on idea and what they think of these. Thanks!
